Nadia Elena Comaneci
She grabbed international recognition and admiration for presenting the world with one of its greatest events in the history of sports by scoring the world's first perfect ten in asymmetric bars during the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. In the following years, she was able to score an additional six perfect 10s and became the most youthful Olympic overall gold medalist who was just fourteen years of age. Not only did Nadia Comaneci attracted attention from every angle, but she also helped Romania to establish itself in the world map. A sports legend came into the spotlight after securing an unprecedented score, thus creating a legend and popularizing gymnastics as a sport all over all over the world. Moreover, it changed the perception of women athletes by the public. Her performance during the Olympics is significant enough that the toe movement (release) and her step toe are named after her in the event's uneven bars. Aside from the Olympics she was also an athlete at World Championships and European Championships. Her achievements made her one of the greatest gymnasts ever. This 'Queen of Olympics' tried her hand in modeling and advertising sporting equipment following her departure into the US.
